Leon Supercup appoints championship scrutineer

05 Mar Leon Supercup appoints championship scrutineer

Ireland’s exciting new Leon Supercup is pleased to announce the appointment of Barry Gregg as scrutineer for the 301bhp Seat Leon Supercopa based championship. The appointment marks the return of the experienced Motorsport Ireland scrutineer after the demise of the Irish Supercar Championship for which he was previously class scrutineer.

With former Supercar Champion Rod McGovern among the instigators of the introduction of Seat’s ultra successful and reliable touring car into Ireland, Barry said ‘The Leon Supercup looks to have all the makings of a great championship so when Rod (McGovern) called me about renewing my Motorsport Ireland Scrutineers licence I didn’t need to think about it for too long’. Barry added that the draw of the Seat Sport built cars and having worked with a number of the drivers previously were key factors in his decision to return to motorsport in an official capacity.

Running within the MicksGarage ITCC, the inaugural season of the Leon Supercup kicks off on May 9-10 at Bishopscourt with 7-cars already confirmed. That number is set to grow with some impending high profile driver announcements.
